The Shreveport Farmers’ Market will be open every Saturday until Aug. 30 from 7 a.m. to noon, and every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Vendors’ offerings will include produce of all varieties with changing crops as the growing season progresses. Additionally, there are home-canned jams, jellies, pickles, salsa, and vegetables. A growing segment of the market features free-range eggs, chickens, beef, shrimp and artisan sausage. Spices, coffees, casseroles and various crafts round out the market.  There is ample free parking in Festival Plaza and the surrounding area. Goodwill Industries, with the city of Bossier and the Bossier Parish Chamber, is hosting a regional job fair. The job fair will be held at the Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Rd., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Tuesday, July 15. More than 100 businesses and community organizations are expected to attend. Shreveport Book Festival at Municipal Auditorium, Friday, July 18 - Saturday, July 19. This event will promote reading and literacy and will also raise funds for Friends of the Municipal Auditorium. Authors will present their latest releases, discuss their books, sell them and sign autographs. There will be activities for children such as a “fairy sack lunch” and exhibits. A grand ball from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday will feature entertainment by Cookie and the King Cakes. Single tickets are $25 to the ball.
