Joe Cobb Bar-B-Que
203 McCORMICK ST. • BOSSIER CITY • 318.221.6512

Ready to get back to your roots? Looking for a traditional restaurant to eat traditional barbecue? Well, Joe Cobb Bar-B-Que is your place. There’s nothing fancy here. Just straightforward barbecue beef, ham, ribs, links and turkey. You just walk right up to the counter and place your order. And don’t bring your credit cards. But you won’t need a credit card anyway. The sandwiches and plates are reasonably priced.

I had the combination plate with barbecue  beef and links. Lots of beef and lots of links, with potato salad and beans. The beans were especially tasty. It was difficult for me to finish everything on my plate.  Along with my food, I asked for a Diet Coke. I was told that they had one, but my server added in a good-natured fashion, “Why would you want to drink something diet when you eat barbeque?” That’s an excellent point, but somehow those diet drinks make me feel like I’m watching my weight.

Grand Cane Food Company
8372 HIGHWAY 171 • GRAND CANE • 318.858.1191

If you have a little extra time and want to try something unique, then make the drive to Grand Cane Food Company. It’s about 30 minutes from downtown Shreveport. It’s especially fun this time of year, now that the weather is warmer.

They are open for lunch Tuesday through Friday and after church on Sunday. They serve dinner Thursday and Friday nights. Traditionally, Thursday is steak night and Friday is seafood. Sunday is home cooking, like pot roast. And, for lunch, you can sometimes find them preparing meatloaf.
