Our family spent many Friday nights in the old Blockbuster on Line Avenue. We even spent more time trying to figure our teenagers’ late fees. Every time I passed that location, I wondered what would occupy that space.

Now I know –– Another Broken Egg Café. 

This is a chain, but they have the right attitude. On the menu, the owner talks about his commitment to excellent customer service combined with good food. On our recent visit, we found that standard was met.

It was a Sunday, and there was a big crowd. So, we opted to sit outdoors and circumvent the wait. Sitting outdoors is fun, but I wish I could have been inside because it’s so light and bright. They even play some wonderful smooth jazz music over the sound system.

When I have breakfast away from my house, my main rule is to order a dish that I normally wouldn’t prepare at home. Or to be more accurate, a dish my wife wouldn’t prepare at home.

I decided on the eggs benedict. It’s the kind of dish that’s elegant, as well as tasty. For the uninitiated, eggs benedict is two medium poached eggs on an English muffin, covered with hollandaise sauce. It was beautifully presented. For a brief moment, I thought about taking a photo of it before I ate it.
